Job Summary The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) entries for import shipments in compliance with all applicable federal regulations. This role supports import operations by ensuring the timely clearance of cargo while maintaining strict adherence to customs, trade, and compliance requirements. This is a trial hire role with salaries ranging between $24 and $30/hour.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and transmit U.S. Customs entries (CBP Forms 3461 and 7501) for air, ocean, and ground shipments

Classify merchandise using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)

Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and Partner Government Agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.)

Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and arrival notices for accuracy and completeness

Calculate duties, taxes, and fees; assist with tariff interpretation

Submit entries through ABI/ACE systems and monitor shipment release status

Communicate with CBP officers, government agencies, carriers, and internal teams

Resolve customs holds, exams, and discrepancies in a timely manner

Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with CBP requirements

Support audits, post-entry amendments, and compliance reviews as needed

Provide high-quality customer service to internal stakeholders and external clients
Qualifications

Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or Import Specialist

Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification

Hands-on experience with ABI/ACE systems

Familiarity with FDA, USDA, and other PGA requirements preferred

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced logistics environment
Education & Certifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Customs brokerage coursework or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) status is a plus
