Position Summary
The Material Handler – Weighing Department is responsible for accurately weighing, labeling, and staging raw materials used in the production process. This position is vital to maintaining accuracy, product quality, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately weigh and measure raw materials according to batch records, formulas, and production schedules.
- Verify lot numbers, expiration dates, and quantities to ensure accuracy and traceability.
- Properly label and stage materials for production use.
- Follow all GMP, HACCP, and company SOPs to prevent contamination or cross-contact.
- Safely operate weighing equipment, pallet jacks, and forklifts (if certified).
- Record weights and data clearly and accurately in batch sheets or digital systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the weighing and storage areas.
- Support inventory management by tracking usage, returns, and waste.
- Report material discrepancies, contamination risks, or damaged ingredients immediately to supervisors or QA.
- Participate in ongoing safety and GMP training.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year experience in food, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge of GMPs, food safety standards, and batch documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly.
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
- Familiarity with scales, weighing systems, and material tracking preferred.
- Forklift or pallet jack experience a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Work Environment
- Food and nutraceutical production facility with controlled environments.
- Exposure to powders, ingredients, and occasional strong odors.
- PPE required (hairnet, gloves, lab coat, face mask, safety shoes).
- Must follow all hygiene and safety protocols.
