Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in transportation or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and CSA regulations.
  • Experience supervising 25 + drivers in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Proficient in transportation management systems and reporting tools.
Work Environment
  • Primarily warehouse and office environment.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as operationally required.
  • Frequent interaction with drivers, warehouse supervisors, and senior leadership.
 
Responsibilities of position




The Transportation Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and performance of the transportation department. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient delivery operations while maintaining high service standards and controlling costs. The Transportation Manager oversees drivers, dispatch, fleet compliance, and regulatory requirements, particularly within warehouse and distribution operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily transportation operations, including route planning, dispatch, and driver assignments.
  • Ensure on-time deliveries and high service levels to customers.
  • Coordinate closely with Warehouse and Receiving teams to align shipping schedules.
  • Monitor productivity and labor efficiency across shifts.
2. Driver Management & Supervision
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate drivers and transportation staff.
  • Enforce company policies, safety standards, and attendance expectations.
  • Address performance concerns promptly and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of drivers.
3. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, Clearinghouse, CSA, and company safety programs.
  • Oversee driver qualification files, medical cards, and required certifications.
  • Coordinate DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and implement preventive measures.
4. Fleet & Maintenance Oversight
  • Monitor vehicle condition and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate repairs and vendor services as needed.
  • Ensure daily pre- and post-trip inspections are completed and documented.
5. Cost Control & Reporting
  • Monitor fuel usage, overtime, layover pay, and route efficiency.
  • Prepare operational reports related to labor hours, delivery performance, and compliance.
  • Recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
