Position Summary
Seeking a Microbiologist to support Quality Control and laboratory operations within a cGMP nutraceutical manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, water systems, environmental samples, and manufacturing areas to ensure compliance with established quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished nutraceutical products.
- Conduct environmental monitoring of manufacturing and laboratory areas.
- Perform microbial testing of purified water and facility water systems.
- Conduct total aerobic microbial count, yeast and mold testing, and other applicable microbiological analyses.
- Prepare and maintain microbiological media, cultures, reagents, and laboratory supplies.
- Perform growth-promotion testing and media qualification as required.
- Monitor and document incubation conditions and laboratory equipment.
- Identify and investigate microbial contamination, out-of-specification results, and unusual trends.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, worksheets, logs, and test results in accordance with cGMP and SOP requirements.
- Follow proper aseptic techniques and contamination-control procedures.
- Support environmental monitoring programs and trending of microbiological results.
- Ensure laboratory instruments and equipment are properly calibrated, maintained, and documented.
- Assist Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams during internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Follow all company SOPs, cGMP requirements, safety procedures, and laboratory practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- Previous microbiology laboratory experience in a nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, or regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of cGMP, GLP, SOPs, and microbiological laboratory practices.
- Experience with environmental monitoring and microbial testing strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with USP microbiological testing methods is a plus.
- Strong documentation, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to investigate laboratory deviations and microbiological results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Quality Control laboratory team.
