Requirements of position

 

 I. Position in the Organization 

A. Reports to: Production Supervisor 

B. Directly supervises: Co-Lead and all the production team 

C. Indirectly supervises: Material Handlers and Shippers 

 

A. Safety and cleanliness in the workplace. 

Quality and efficient production of work orders produced on MB machines. 

Check and maintain production, test records, retain samples and notes. 

Manage Co-Lead (and assign machine responsibility), machine tenders and temporary staff. 

Comply with MNW ISO 9001 procedures and seek quality system improvements. 

 

III. Specific Responsibilities 

Safe operation of equipment and putting loose parts or equipment in a safe place including shadow boards. Complete accurate accident report forms before leaving the shift. Look for ways to improve efficiency and safety near production machines. Set up, adjust, test and shut down/start up machinery for consistent quality. Ensure correct loading of machines with raw materials including resin from railcars, silos or back-up storage working with Resin Coordinator. Package as required. 

Complete paperwork, add accurate data into computer, commit in Syteline, manage sample retains. 

Isolate non-conforming production. Maintain test machinery. Complete shift change checklist. Complete and verify consumptions at the end of orders. 

Direct machine tenders and allocating duties, identify candidates for promotion and suggest training. Control forklift keys. Relieve operators during breaks. Control security of visitors such as truck drivers. Stand in work for T2, T3, T4, T4F machine tenders and material handlers. Fill in for Co-Lead when needed. 

Under exceptional circumstances where an obvious error or mistake is made in the process or documentation, adjust the defined process; generate a waiver and note in the production notes of such a change. Ensure mill standards are met and quality of production maintained. 

 

IV. Relationships 

A. Internal: Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Technical Manager, HR Manager, Planning, Shipping and other MB Leads 

B. External: Truck drivers 

V. Manpower Specifications 

A. Education and Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent, read, write and speak English, basic math skills, computer literate, able to lift 150 lb bar between two people, accurate record keeping, mechanical background preferred, able to operate Fork and Clamp Trucks, First Aid and CPR. Must be able to respond to verbal and visual machine warnings. 

B. Experience: At least three years melt blown operation preferred.
