Travel: Travel may be required up to 50% at times, including customer visits, trade shows, training seminars, supplier visits, and other business-related travel.
Pay and Hours for Job + Benefits: $75k-$100k (Salary based on experience)
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of mechanical and electromechanical equipment for a leading manufacturer in the commercial baking and packaging industry. This is a hands-on engineering and team leadership role requiring strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with manufacturing, assembly, sales, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design new products and improve existing equipment and components.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, warranty, and field-service issues.
- Provide technical guidance during new product builds.
- Research new technologies and competitive products.
- Develop cost-effective, manufacturable designs.
- Create and maintain drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Support new products through the transition into manufacturing.
- Work with Sales and Marketing on product specifications and technical information.
- Respond to field installation and rectification issues.
- Lead projects and manage engineering priorities and resources.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to the Mechanical Engineering team.
- Establish and maintain engineering quality and best-practice standards.
- Work hands-on with machinery for assembly, repair, and troubleshooting when needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong mechatronics background.
- Strong SolidWorks experience.
- Packaging equipment experience required.
- OEM equipment manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical design and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and cost-conscious design.
- Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed.
- Leadership, mentoring, or performance-coaching experience preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings.
