The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring effective supplier releasing, customer service, continuous improvement, quality standards, and safety. This role requires strong communication to proactively address potential interruptions in part supply and persistence in following through until issues are resolved.
Required Skills/Experience
- Diploma or degree in Logistics/Supply Chain
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 3+ years’ experience in supplier relations, inventory control, or customer service within a JIT automotive environment
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- Strong attendance record
- Proficiency in mathematics
- Solid computer skills
Duties
- Proactively manage supplier component processing in a JIT environment
- Develop strong communication and working relationships with suppliers
- Integrate PFEP with supplier inventory and storage parameters
- Initiate and follow up with vendors as needed (daily, hourly, or off-shift)
- Develop a working knowledge of part processes and lead times
- Prepare, review, and send weekly EDI vendor releases
- Generate Supply Web releases and upload to applicable systems
- Ensure MRP activities are completed as required
- Reconcile cumulative quantities (CUMs) with vendors weekly
- Issue and follow up on delivery performance reports for non-conformances
- Request and review corrective action reports (8D’s) from suppliers
- Maintain the premium freight log as needed
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies
- Ensure supplier compliance with delivery windows and packaging standards
- Initiate supplier development activities when necessary
- Implement continuous improvement actions to reduce inventory glide path
- Ensure supplier lead time, safety stock, and order quantity parameters are properly set
- Adhere to all quality and operational requirements (IATF, TS16949, ISO14001, OSHA, etc.)
- Participate in physical inventories and procedure development
- Comply with operational procedures, employee policies, and safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibility and Working Conditions
Working under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Materials Planner operates independently while coordinating with both internal and external contacts. Overtime may be required to meet expectations. The role may involve exposure to plant environments, including temperature and noise. Ability to obtain and retain a valid passport may be required.
