Job Title: Bilingual Maintenance Technician Job Location: New Haven, CT Pay and Hours for Job + Benefits We are hiring an experienced Bilingual Maintenance Technician for a food manufacturing facility in New Haven, CT. This is a full-time, hands-on maintenance position responsible for keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. What You'll Do Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production and packaging equipment. Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, and related equipment. Respond to equipment breakdowns and make timely repairs to minimize production downtime. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document completed work in a CMMS system. Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, unusual noise, and other potential problems. Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems and mechanical power transmission equipment. Support facility systems including piping, HVAC components, lighting, and compressed air. Assist with refrigeration, boiler, and water systems as qualified. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, including sensors, electrical schematics, and use of a multimeter. Participate in root-cause analysis and recommend improvements to prevent recurring equipment failures. Follow OSHA, SQF, food safety, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements. Work closely with production personnel to troubleshoot equipment and improve reliability. Requirements 3–5 years of industrial maintenance or industrial mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. Experience with conveyors, motors, bearings, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical power transmission. Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment. Working knowledge of CMMS systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work safely under time-sensitive conditions. Basic electrical skills, including reading schematics, replacing sensors, and using a multimeter. Food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred but not required. Preferred Experience Experience in an SQF- or USDA-regulated food manufacturing facility. Welding and fabrication experience, including MIG/TIG, cutting, and grinding. Trade school, technical certification, apprenticeship, or other formal industrial maintenance training. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods. Routinely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs. Comfortable working around moving machinery, vibration, wet conditions, cleaning chemicals, and food-processing equipment. Ability to work in varying temperatures, including cold rooms and warm processing areas. Ability to wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on maintenance professional who can diagnose problems quickly, make quality repairs, and take a proactive approach to preventing equipment failures. Food manufacturing experience is a plus, but strong industrial maintenance experience is the priority.
