  1.  Basic understanding of legal terminology
  2. Computer skills to use information retrieval, document management, appointment, litigation support, word processing, spreadsheet and database software
  3. Research skills to gather background information and relevant court records for cases
  4. Oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients, court personnel and coworkers
  5. Organizational skills to maintain accurate records for multiple clients at one time
  6. Typing skills to produce error-free legal documents quickly
  7. Active listening skills to perform transcriptions and take accurate notes
  8. Written communication skills to edit and proofread documents
