- Operating and Maintaining the Truck: Driving and maintaining the flatbed truck safely and legally.
- Loading and Securing Cargo: Loading and unloading cargo, ensuring it is properly secured to prevent damage or accidents.
- Route Planning and Delivery: Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules, often involving multiple stop-offs.
- Paperwork and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and other relevant documentation.
- Communication: Communicating with dispatchers and customers regarding deliveries, delays, and other relevant information.
- Compliance: Adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- CDL: Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Flatbed Experience: Experience operating and securing cargo on flatbed trucks is often required or highly desirable.
- Safe Driving: A clean driving record and a commitment to safe driving practices are essential.
- Physical Abilities: Flatbed work often requires physical exertion for loading, unloading, and securing cargo.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage paperwork, track deliveries, and maintain a clean work environment.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected situations and resolve issues on the road.
