Responsibilities: - Set up, operate, and monitor mill to machining standards
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining parameters (speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut)
- Select, align, and secure work holding fixtures, angle plates, vices, etc.
- Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications
- Generate tool paths for 2D milling
- Accurately complete inspection documentation
- Load, edit, and monitor CAM-generated 3D programs
- Deburr and qualify finished workpieces
- Read and interpret drawings, SMIRT models, and specifications
- Proficiently perform horizontal machine setups
- Select, measure, and program machine tooling
- Controls: Heidenhain / Fanuc / Fidia / Mitsubishi / Okuma / SMIRT
- Measuring Tools: Calipers, Depth Micrometers, Bore Gauges, Inside & Outside Micrometers, Test & Travel Indicators
- Machines: 3-Axis and 5-Axis Vertical / Horizontal Mills
- Equipment: Overhead Crane, Fork Truck
- Knowledge and understanding of basic hand tools
Overview: The CNC Machinist’s main responsibility is to set up and operate vertical/horizontal 3 or 5 axis milling equipment.
