Job Title: 2nd Shift Machinist
Job Location: Grass Lake, MI
Pay and Hours for Job + Benefits: $23-$33.50/hr
Second Shift: 2:30pm-12:30am or 3:30pm-1:30am, Monday through Saturday (Hours may vary; Sundays as needed)
Job Description: We're looking for experienced Machinists who are ready to put their skills to work on large-scale, complex machining projects. This is not a production machining environment—every day brings new challenges, requiring precision, problem-solving, and technical expertise. Ideal candidates will have experience with 5-axis machining, large automotive die components, and controller-based programming. Responsibilities:
- Operate and program large CNC milling machines
- Perform machining of large die components
- Program at the machine controller and make necessary adjustments
- Read and interpret blueprints and machining specifications
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues
- Maintain quality and accuracy throughout the machining process
- Follow all safety and production standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of machining experience preferred
- Required experience with 5-axis machining (3+2 axis experience is a must)
- Experience machining large dies or large fabricated components
- Knowledge of G-code programming and controller-based programming
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controllers
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience with large mills (4-12 meters or larger) required
- Experience with Parpas, Mitsubishi, Mechoff, Pratt, YCM, or Okuma machines is highly preferred
- SMIRT programming experience is a plus
- Defense or large fabrication machining experience is a plus
- Must possess personal tools appropriate for the role (to a reasonable degree)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings
