We have a world-class automotive supplier located in Lancaster, Ohio, currently seeking skilled Toolmakers with experience in robotics jigs and fixtures to join their growing team. Position Summary:
The Toolmaker – Robotics plays a critical role in maintaining and optimizing plant equipment to ensure the successful fabrication of automotive components. You’ll troubleshoot systems, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with teams across the plant to support safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, service, repair, install, and test both new and existing equipment (robotic, welding, fixtures).
- Troubleshoot and resolve process problems and lead quality improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance automation and tooling systems.
- Participate in preventive/predictive maintenance based on OEM and internal standards.
- Support documentation efforts, training, and cross-functional team development.
- Assist in design and fabrication of fixtures, tools, and gauges for welded assembly.
- Ensure all repairs and upgrades are carried out with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Enrolled or plans to enroll in an approved skilled trades or apprenticeship program.
- Basic knowledge of welding, mechanical systems, or fabrication.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Licensed to operate a forklift and aerial lift.
- Completed Lockout/Tagout training.
- Ability to perform visual PMs and participate in 5S/TPM activities.
- Working knowledge of plant equipment locations and systems.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with robotics jigs and fixtures in an automotive manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on familiarity with CNC machines, mills, lathes, surface grinders, and welding tools.
- Previous exposure to Microsoft Office, internal databases, and maintenance tracking software.
Tools & Equipment You’ll Use:
- Forklifts, aerial devices, welders (MIG, TIG, Arc), mills, lathes, grinders, band saws, and more.
- Computer systems for data entry, maintenance tracking, and communication.
Working Conditions:
- This position operates in a dynamic plant environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Occasional travel with overnight stays may be required.
- Overtime and shift flexibility may be needed to meet production demands and skill balancing across shifts.
