| The Mechanical Assembler installs, assembles, and modifies mechanical and electrical components on transit and rail vehicles while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Install equipment and components on rail vehicles, including brakes, doors, flooring, air conditioning, glass, and pneumatic systems.
- Use measuring tools to inspect and verify work meets specifications.
- Record torque values, serial numbers, and inspection results accurately.
- Perform modifications and repairs based on engineering instructions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and work orders.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Use hand and power tools safely and properly.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures.
- Perform welding or burning tasks when required.
Requirements
- 2+ years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably in rail or transportation.
- Experience installing mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and torque systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong math, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
