Maintenance Technician (Mechanical/Electrical)
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Job Type: Full-Time, Regular
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of company machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role supports production by ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
The following duties are considered essential functions of this position:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment
- Diagnose and repair equipment failures, including electrical and electronic systems at the component level
- Maintain compliance with BRC standards and the Product Safety and Quality Management System (PSQMS)
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and report any food safety or quality concerns
- Participate in required safety activities including lockout/tagout procedures, equipment labeling, inspections, and emergency response protocols
- Build or modify equipment, fixtures, and electrical systems as directed
- Maintain maintenance records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
- Understand and comply with procedures governing temporary repairs and maintenance clearance
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Perform related duties as assigned to support operations and quality systems
Qualifications
Required:
- Technical training and/or demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, welding, or carpentry
Preferred:
- Associate degree in electrical, electronics, or a related technical field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment
- Basic understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to access all areas of the facility, including elevated platforms, confined spaces, and exterior areas, as required to perform job duties
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

Additional Responsibilities and Conditions
- Access to various areas of the facility as necessary to perform maintenance functions
- May occasionally interact with vendors, contractors, or internal stakeholders
