Pay/hours for position

20.00—23.00 HR W2 temp to perm (possible)- after 4—6 months.

Requirements of position

     Machine Operator – Food production Plant

MUST HAVE: Current or recent industrial knowledge and good mechanical skills.

Plant is small at about 150,000 square feet.

The Pilot Plant Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Pilot Plant machinery. Responsibilities include a wide variety of assignments as scheduled by immediate supervisor including but not limited to ingredient and component preparation, blending, filling and closing, cooking, packaging, and any other duties as assigned.

• Operates pilot plant equipment to produce product within guidelines established by Quality Assurance and to the highest possible standard of quality
 • Operates, shuts down, cleans, and sanitizes equipment in the pilot plant in accordance with established procedures and follows sanitation procedures specific to chemical handling
 • Performs and records operational, quality, and CIP checks to ensure food safety and quality expectations are met
 • Communicates and/or escalates quality or safety issues to appropriate team members
 • Reads and understands documentation within Special Batch notes including recipe sheets, blending procedures, specification forms, and process safety notes/requirements
 • Disposes of food waste accordingly
 • Properly utilizes powered industrial equipment and follows Lock Out Tag Out procedures. Completes required annual safety and quality trainings.
 • Practices and adheres to appropriate safety, quality, and food safety guidelines including utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adhering to GMPS, keeping work area clear and free from obstructions, ensuring area is organized according to 5S/production standards
 • Assists other team members to complete tasks in an efficient manner ensuring the equipment is ready for startup or shutdown
 • Support plant continuous improvements efforts, build capability by learning to operate new/different equipment, train others on how to operate equipment you are proficient in operating, and rotate on trained positions to maintain job qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

 • Ability to work well with others under moderate supervision, detail orientated, mechanical aptitude, and ability to multi-task
 • Strong interpersonal communication skills including ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
 • Must be comfortable communicating to immediate team members, maintenance personnel, and leadership staff
 • Ability to push and pull up to 700 pounds with and without mechanical assistance and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
 • Basic mathematical skills.
