Job Title: Industrial Painter
Job Location: Jackson, MI
Pay and Hours for Job + Benefits: $20-25/hr (Depending on Level of Experience)
First Shift: 5am-2:30pm, Monday through Friday (Overtime/weekends may be required)
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to prepare surfaces, apply coatings, and maintain painting equipment to ensure high-quality finishes. This position involves sandblasting, surface preparation, paint application, and following technical specifications while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate blast pot and nozzle equipment.
- Sandblast surfaces and remove rust as required.
- Clean and prepare surfaces prior to painting.
- Remove existing paint using masking techniques or chemical treatments.
- Mix, induce, and apply paints according to technical specifications.
- Perform touch-up painting and paint small components.
- Use thickness gauges to verify paint coating thickness.
- Ensure proper ventilation and curing procedures after paint application.
- Maintain painting and blasting equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Safely handle and dispose of chemical waste.
- Follow all safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective techniques based on the material being painted.
- Able to follow technical documents to properly mix, prepare, and finish paints.
- Communicate production concerns to supervisors and support departments.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping and organization within the work area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience painting a variety of surface types.
- Experience with sandblasting and industrial coatings.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents.
- Proficiency with painting equipment and related machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings.
Note:
Painters will go through a Respiratory Program (fill out respiratory questionnaire, based on questionnaire and physician’s notes, respiratory physical, and then fit testing (which requires no beards)
