POSITION SUMMARY:The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of all common areas throughout the building. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans common areas including (but not limited to) restrooms, conference rooms, and cafeterias
- Cleans floors and surfaces by wiping, sweeping, mopping or scrubbing as needed
- Dusts furniture, washes walls, dusts and polishes light fixtures, cleans windows and dusts blinds
- Gathers and empties trash bins/receptacles
- Follows procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power cleaning equipment to prevent damage to floors/fixtures
- Stocks and maintain supply rooms as needed
- Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects (i.e. waxing floors, shampooing carpets) as needed
- Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair to supervisor
- Basic English language skills

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year janitorial experience
- Experience in commercial / institutional cleaning preferred
- Heavy Work- This role requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Most essential functions are performed while standing.
- Must be able to perform physical labor including: climbing, bending, stooping, twisting and other motions required in the performance of normal custodial duties.
- Visual acuity is required to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and to operate power cleaning tools.
- This role is subject to both outside and inside environmental conditions.
