The Commercial Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the processes, systems, and reporting that support the company’s commercial strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role serves as the operational backbone of the commercial organization, ensuring commercial activities are executed consistently and effectively across contract administration, pricing, pipeline management, forecasting, customer retention, and business transitions.
Working closely with Operations, Finance, Dispatch, and Executive Leadership, the Commercial Operations Manager provides visibility into commercial performance, supports cross-functional execution, and drives process discipline across the customer lifecycle.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contract and Commercial Governance
- Maintain the master repository of all active customer contracts and commercial agreements.
- Ensure contracts are organized using standardized documentation and naming conventions.
- Track contract start dates, expiration dates, renewal terms, termination clauses, and notification requirements.
- Maintain a rolling 12-month contract renewal calendar and coordinate renewal planning activities.
- Support contract reviews and updates with internal stakeholders.
Revenue Performance and Commercial Analytics
- Maintain pricing schedules, surcharge programs, and contractually required fee adjustments.
- Coordinate the price increase process, including customer notifications, implementation tracking, and realization reporting.
- Support the development and maintenance of rolling revenue forecasts using contract assumptions and pipeline inputs.
- Reconcile forecasted performance against actual results and identify key variances for leadership review.
- Monitor upcoming renewals and associated revenue and margin exposure.
- Prepare monthly commercial performance reports and dashboards for executive leadership.
Pipeline and Commercial Process Management
- Monitor pipeline health, stage progression, close-date accuracy, and forecast reliability.
- Produce regular reporting on pipeline performance, conversion trends, and commercial activity.
- Maintain win/loss reporting and support continuous improvement efforts related to bidding and commercial execution.
- Identify opportunities, accounts, or activities requiring escalation to commercial leadership.
- Document and continuously improve commercial processes and standard operating procedures.
Customer Retention and Business Transition
- Support customer tiering programs and retention initiatives.
- Maintain customer engagement standards and activity expectations.
- Coordinate the transition of new business from commercial teams to operations.
- Ensure completion of customer setup activities, operational readiness requirements, and first invoice accuracy.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve process gaps and improve execution.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial operations, sales operations, pricing, contract administration, business analytics, revenue operations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in reporting, forecasting, and performance measurement.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with commercial, operational, and financial stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
