Job Summary
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for general maintenance, upkeep, and functionality of the campus facilities. The technician supports maintenance needs across three campus buildings. This role is important for maintaining a safe, functional, and efficient building environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment, ensure all standards and building codes are met
- Perform routine maintenance, such as plumbing repairs, electrical, HVAC equipment, painting, and other components
- Diagnose and repair basic issues related to plumbing, lighting, electrical systems, flooring and drywall repair and other building components
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to OSHA and company safety standards
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies, which may occasionally require work outside regular business hours
- Ensure proper inventory levels of supplies are on hand and available as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
- Valid driver's license required to operate campus vehicles as needed for maintenance tasks
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and machinery
- Experience working with hazardous materials, lockout/tagout procedures, or confined spaces
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and crawling for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks across three buildings
- Basic computer skills and ability to use digital work order systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Education and Experience Qualifications
- At least two years of proven experience in general maintenance tasks, HVAC and electrical maintenance experience preferred
- HVAC, Electrical, and/or Plumbing Certifications a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent
